The woman who brought us the metrosexual man, domestic divas, globesity, fortification and wiggers (white kids who want to be black) – Marian Salzman – the world’s no. 1 Trendspotter and CMO at JWT Worldwide, is back for the third year along with Ann Mack, Director of Trendspotting at JWT, with their fascinating annual forecasts for 2008. The study is available for $200-250 (I saw a rebate somewhere). But with a few mouse clicks, I found enough commentary to glean the basic idea of most of the 10.

Here’s the list:

  1. Rethinking instant gratification
  2. Radical transparency
  3. Outwitting disease
  4. Blue is the new green
  5. The world is local
  6. The personal CPM
  7. Demography is dead
  8. Queen triumphs King
  9. Cooperative consumption
  10. Stretching the bubble: Reality checks for 2 Giants

And lastly, while not directly related to 2008 trend-spotting…whilst clicking around JWT’s (nice) site, I paused to view some of their recent work. Here is a spot for Sedal (SunSilk hair products) which is really entertaining, bravo! as the whole category could use more bounce and shine in its advertising (pun intended).
